People Are Waking Up

I read an issue on a website, http://www.adbusters.org/, regarding our culture's slide into narcissism. I completely agree with every word this person has written. A lot of people living in our world today come off very selfish, I think. I find that a lot of people, not everybody, isolates themselves from certain people based on their race, sexuality, status, etc. The way one dresses or talks may cause a certain individual to back away because they feel embarrassed or don't want others judging them for who they hang out with or talk to. Unfortunately, I have friends who can be very stuck up and will not speak to anyone who isn't good looking, doesn't dress nice or who they just despise for no reason what so ever. It's very disappointing to learn that there are people like this out there. I believe that you shouldn't categorize anyone based on anything. We are all the same. Yeah, we have our differences but that's what makes us unique and interesting. Just because someone can't afford a car or a house or doesn't live somewhere decent, doesn't mean that people should stray away. We shouldn't be so materialistic and self-centered. Many of us have set such high standards for our friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, family and/or new people who are eventually going to enter our lives. If you set those standards too high you're just going to be disappointed in the end because no one is perfect, not everybody is rich, we all make mistakes, we all have our own opinion on things. We're all different, and I think that everyone needs to understand that. Instead of judging every person, accept them the way that they are, be social with everyone, be equal with everyone. We all live in this world together, we should all love every bit of it.

Do you think that people in our society today have become selfish and judgmental towards others?

  1. With regarding with your question I don't know I'm too lazy to think.
As a comment this is what I have to say:
You have an amazing voice not because you can sing or what words you can put together but the fact that when I was reading your post in a way I felt what you were saying. I won't lie to you, when I first saw you what came to my mind was this "WOW shes gorgeous but also seems kinda snobby or high maintenance." So I just bother not talking to you, not because I thought I wasn't good enough for you but because I felt like we just couldn't connect. In a way I'm glad I was wrong because when we started talking and you started hitting me I couldn't help but smile just cause I kept seeing a different side of you and that we connect in some ways. I'm not trying to say this just to make smile or tell you I like or any of that crap because that's just stupid and I rather make you smile with me seeing it. I just did this because it was what I think is right and I'm the type to follow my heart. Any ways your right I like your post and I hope your belief on this situation never change.
